DAY 1 - Vancouver to Lac Le Jeune
Begin your vacation with an early morning rental car pickup in Vancouver, and drive to peaceful Lac Le Jeune. Travel along either the Coquihalla Highway via Merritt or the Trans-Canada Highway via the Fraser Canyon, where you can stop at Hell's Gate and other great viewpoints. Dinner at La Le Jeune.
DAY 2 - Lac Le Jeune to Banff
After breakfast, drive eastward along the Trans-Canada Highway to your destination of Banff, Alberta. Enroute you'll view Shuswap Lake, Rogers Pass, Glacier & Yoho National Parks, the Spiral Tunnels of the Canadian Pacific Railway - and so much more! Take some time to photograph Lake Louise, known as the 'Gem of the Canadian Rockies'.
DAY 3 - Discovering Banff
Explore the wonders of world-famous Banff, a scenic alpine town that's also a centre for arts & entertainment, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Luxuriate in the mineral waters of the newly-renovated Upper Hot Springs and ride the Banff Gondola for a 360 degree look at Banff and the Bow Valley. Also included is admission to the Cave & Basin National Historic Site.
DAY 4 - Banff to Jasper Sightseeing
Today you will drive to Jasper via Canada's most spectacular mountain highway - the Icefields Parkway. Be sure to stop and explore, take pictures, enjoy the peaks, valleys, waterfalls, glaciers and turquoise lakes. A ride on the Brewster Ice Explorer, visiting the Athabasca Glacier adjacent to the Columbia Icefields Interpretive Centre, is included.
DAY 5 - Exploring Jasper
Take time to discover Jasper and it's lovely surroundings on your own. Drive to Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake, where you can take a scenic lake cruise; try the Whistlers tramway for a panoramic view of the townsite and surrounding area, or head eastward to Miette Hot Springs. These suggested options are not included in the package.
DAY 6 and 7 - 'Rocky Mountaineer' to Kamloops and Vancouver
Return your rental vehicle in Jasper ($250.00 Cdn drop fee + tax not included *subject to change*) and begin the two-day rail portion of your vacation. Board 'Rocky Mountaineer's' daylight service to Vancouver with an overnight stop in Kamloops. You will travel along the tranquil North Thompson River, through the Interior Plateau with its sagebrush and Ponderosa pines, then along the rugged Fraser Canyon past Hell's Gate. Breakfast and lunch are served at your seat onboard each day. Your Rockies, Rail and Road vacation concludes with an afternoon arrival to Vancouver the following day.
