DAY 1 Calgary
Pick up your rental vehicle, then begin your exploration of this booming, energetic city. Visit Heritage Park for a glimpse of Calgary's pioneer past.
DAY 2 Columbia Icefield
This will be a day of eye-popping scenery as you drive westward to Banff National Park and the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Your destination is the Columbia Icefield, where you'll take an Ice Explorer onto the Athabasca Glacier.
DAY 3 Revelstoke
Retrace your route, then turn west on the Trans-Canada Highway. You'll traverse mountain passes, with lots of time to stop for photos, hikes, or a picnic. At day's end you'll arrive in Revelstoke, a lively alpine town nestled in the Serkirk Mountains.
DAY 4 Nelson
Today's journey takes you through lush valleys and even includes a short ferry ride. You'll pass two developed hot springs on your way - why not stop for a soak.
DAY 5 Nelson
This small city has a well-preserved historic district, and a definite sense of fun. You can explore the galleries, shops and cafes of town, or discover the area's gold mining heritage.
DAY 6 Fairmont Hot Springs
Today you're bound for Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. Your route includes another ferry ride, and a stop at Fort Steele Heritage Town. Complete your day with a relaxing hot pool soak.
DAY 7 Banff
Today's short journey takes you over the Continental Divide to world-famous Banff.
DAY 8 Banff
You have a long, luxurious day to discover Banff's many sights and attractions. Take time for a ride on the Banff Gondola, see the birthplace of Canada's national parks at the Cave & Basin National Historic Site, and relax in the soothing waters of the Upper Hot Springs pool.
DAY 9 Calgary
A short drive to Calgary, where you'll drop your rental vehicle, concludes your vacation.
